I never thought I will ever become an Oregon Destination Photographer. I thought I’ll stay there for the rest of my life. But somehow life had other plans for me and last summer my family had to say goodbye to this beautiful place.
Honestly, in my opinion, there is nothing like the Pacific Northwest. So now I take every opportunity to return to see friends and offer these incredible destination shoots to clients.
This summer when I took my boys back to visit I booked this adorable shoot at Canon Beach!
The Photo shoot
This beautiful mom’s life was about to change. She was going through divorce so she arranged this photoshoot with her children to mark this new chapter of their lives’.
We started planning the session via Skype a month before. I showed some incredible wardrobe suggestions from my Fort Collins studio and brought these beautiful dresses with me from Colorado. Because of the distance, I had arranged my Hair and Make up artist to meet my client back in Portland. Then we met at Canon Beach in the afternoon right before sunset.
I have to say she was incredibly inspiring to photograph! And I have to mention that her children were incredibly engaging and cooperative during the whole shoot too.
They were the perfect assistants to me. They helped mommy laugh, threw fabric, held the reflector and even grabbing some behind-the-scene photos for me. We had the best time!
Mom was a trooper, handling the cold, changing outfits in the harshest conditions, and embracing all the crazy instructions I was given her. But in the end she knew it was all going to be worth it… and by looking at these images I can honestly say that it was!
I know these images mean the world to her right! When she looks at her own portraits see not only sees the sleepless nights, the fear of the unknown, the broken heart BUT she’s also able to connect with the strong, beautiful woman, who is ready to see what the future holds.
What a blessing that I am able to offer this unique perspective to her!
Edina Clagett | Destination Photographer
As someone who spent her 20’s traveling the world extensively, I am so happy to be able to blend my two biggest passions in life, travel and photography, and call myself a destination photographer.
Check out another incredible photoshoot I did in Budapest, Hungary.
