How did you fall in love with hair?

My career began here in Fort Collins after graduating from Loveland High.  I completed my cosmetology program from Hair Dynamics a year later.  Doing hair cutting coloring and skin care was a no brainer as my entire childhood I was playing with hair and skin.  I moved away to the east coast and returned in 2005 with three kids in tow after divorce.  My clients are like my extended family and have supported my business in a way that allowed me to prioritize my children.   I love my clients and look forward to seeing them each day!  I love making them feel cared for and giving them a little TLC and a break for themselves.

How have YOU & YOUR business been effected by COVID-19?

I had a deep intuitive feeling at the beginning of 2020 that a big work shift was coming but had no idea what that was going to come from.  Well Covid has shifted me for the first time to a stay at home dog mom sabbatical.  Because I have family working in health care as well as loved ones with compromised immune systems I’m happy to do my part.  It’s isolating but we have opportunities to reconnect a very divided world by pausing.  What’s most important right now is people.  

What advice do you have for women going this long without being able to get proper hair care?

I know that it’s hard for women to go without hair color however Kevin Murphy color has a seamless transition with less fading so it lasts longer.  I’ve set up an online shopping system for clients who need to purchase temporary root color spray in order to camouflage unsightly grow out until I’m up and running again!  As tempting as it is, please do not use box dye, online kits or Sallys home color because it is a totally different ingredient, will risk the need for color correction and can cause serious damage.  Our color science knowledge is beyond choosing one thing and putting it in the hair.  It’s technical and requires thoughtful formulation.  Temporary root management products in my shopping store will allow you to touch up safely those roots and allow me to recreate the best results when we all return to the salon to pick up where we left off without extra time and expense of color correcting. and have set up a couple online shopping links for clients  to  purchase products from home with shipping.
