HOW TO INSTALL A PICTURE COLLAGE ON THE WALL
As a Portland based Full Service Portrait Photographer I’m committed to offer beautiful custom products for my clients that they can hold in their hands, or enjoy on their walls, in their space every time they walk by them! I love designing custom collages for a specific wall space with gorgeous images from a shoot.
Creating then installing a custom designed gallery wall collage can be very intimidating. But as a professional Portrait photographer it is my job to help my clients through the process of choosing the right images, picking the right area, layout and size for their specific space including the installation of the final products on their wall.
I’m hoping this information will be helpful whether you are doing a personal project or if you are a photographer and creating one for your client.
So let’s get started!
TOOLS YOU’ll NEED
- large paper roll
- painters tape
- pencil
- scissors
- hammer
- large ruler
- nail/picture hangers
Step 1.
If you are a photographer I highly recommend investing in the Shoot & Sell App
This app will help you design a custom collage scaled for a specific space.
It’s the best tool to create different collage options for your clients.
Step 2.
Draw up the layout on a piece of paper & measure the spread of the collage. Make sure you use the same space between the pictures ( depending on the size of the whole collage I like to leave 1.5-3 inch between them)
Step 3.
Lay a big roll of paper on the floor and place the pictures on it. Then using a giant ruler measure and draw the layout on the paper.
Step 4.
Tape the Paper on the wall making sure it is leveled.
(I used painters tape so it can be removed without damaging the wall)
Step 5.
Measure out where the hangers need to be and hammer the nails in.
Steps6.
Remove the paper
Step 7.
Hang the art work back on the wall & ENJOY!
